Review your children’s textbook so that you know what they are learning in school
Reinforce what children are learning in school by having them teach you their newly learned skills.
Praise their effort not just their accomplishments.
Stress and Positive values Caring, Loyalty, Trust, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
Use newspaper as “Family” textbook: Use the world, national and sports pages to discuss current events.
Make a deal, limit TV Watching then spend some time with your child about the programmes that they need to watch and pose.
Show that you are interested in your children’s lives by asking about school, their teachers, friends and listening to what they tell you.
Give your child undivided attention .Remember that you can compensate for your absence with gifts. “Being there for your child all the time is the best gift you can give him/her.”
Engage in a Physical activity as a family: bike –ride together and take walks after dinner, Several a week.
Visit the school and get to know your children’s school records. Ask for clarifications: Voice concerns.
Plan your family activities that relate to your children’s studies particularly during their exam time.
